Instalco subsidiary NCE delivers to the reconstruction at Boliden Rönnskär

The Instalco subsidiary Nordpipe Composite Engineering (NCE) has signed an agreement with Boliden Rönnskär for industrial deliveries related to the reconstruction of the electrolysis plant in Skellefteå.

Boliden Rönnskär’s electrolysis plant in Skelleftehamn was completely destroyed in a fire in June 2023. Reconstruction has been ongoing since 2024. NCE’s assignment includes the delivery and installation of, among other things, tanks, reactors, piping systems, chimneys and ducts made of composite materials.

“We have a long and strong relationship with Boliden Rönnskär, built on a high level of mutual trust. NCE has the expertise required for a project of this kind, which demands careful planning and in-depth technical knowledge of materials that must perform reliably in these industrial processes,” says Dan Björkskog, CEO of NCE.

The electrolysis plant at Rönnskär is a facility that, through electrolysis, refines copper to produce copper cathodes and recover precious metals such as gold and silver. The new electrolysis plant is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.

In connection with the construction of the electrolysis plant, the Instalco subsidiary Highcon also has separate assignments for Boliden.

Through this assignment, NCE takes an important step in its growth journey and strengthens its role as a strategic partner to the industrial sector, with opportunities to expand both capacity and expertise for future projects. The Instalco subsidiary NCE, headquartered in Jakobstad, Finland, designs, manufactures and installs composite solutions for industries with processes involving aggressive corrosion, high pressure and severe erosion.
