Instalco wins contract for installations at new building for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
Five Instalco subsidiaries have won a joint assignment for the design and installation of the ventilation, heating & plumbing, sprinkler and automation systems at the new building that is being constructed for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Västerås. The order value for Instalco is SEK 260 million.
The Instalco subsidiaries – Instair, Intec, Inmatiq, Sprinklerbolaget and LG Contracting – are involved in a partnering project with the property owner Intea, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and ByggDialog, which is the general contractor.
“We are delighted to be a part of this important project and helping to build a safer, more secure society. We’ve been involved since the early stages and it’s exciting to see construction now officially underway. Instalco has extensive experience with these types of projects and we look forward to collaborating with the other stakeholders on its successful execution,” says Anders Kallin, Business Area Manager for Instalco Stockholm.
Once completed, the new 40,000-square-metre facility for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Västerås will be able to house 200 detainees, along with facilities for non-institutional care, the NTE transport service, and training premises.
It is a technically complex project for Instalco, with extensive system integration and stringent requirements for system security and operational reliability.
Construction of the detention centre in Västerås is part of the expansion of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service that is now occurring throughout Sweden. The project will start up for Instalco during 2025 and it is expected to be completed during 2028.
