Instalco wins installation contract for Kaj 16 timber construction project
The Instalco companies Sprinklerbolaget and Elektro-Centralen have been commissioned by Vestia Construction to carry out electrical, telecommunications and sprinkler installations in the Kaj 16 project in Gothenburg for Vasakronan. The project has a total order value for Instalco of SEK 180 million.
Kaj 16 is set to become one of Gothenburg's new landmarks, a building constructed largely of wood and glass. The building, which is being constructed on the quay along the Göta River between Platinan and the southern end of Hisingsbron, covers approximately 30,000 square metres and rises sixteen storeys – twelve of which are made of wood. Kaj 16 will house offices, restaurants, cafés and services and will be a model for sustainable urban development.
“Elektro-Centralen and Sprinklerbolaget are delighted to be working once again with property developer Vasakronan and our client Vestia, two players that run projects with high standards for sustainability, CO₂ budgets, energy calculations and cost efficiency. Working closely together, we will have the opportunity to contribute climate-smart and sustainable solutions without compromising on economy or function. The total digitalisation of both design and production is also an exciting challenge that we look forward to," says Joakim Jörenius, Elektro-Centralen.
When Vasakronan builds Kaj 16, high demands will be placed on everything from design and energy performance to the indoor environment. The project has a clear environmental profile with high sustainability goals and will be certified according to LEED Platinum.
The project for the Instalco companies will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2027.
