Instalco involved in the Slussen project
Instalco has been involved in several projects over the years in the extensive construction project for the new Slussen in Stockholm. This time, the Instalco subsidiary, Rörgruppen, is carrying out a project involving heating & plumbing installations for water and gas associated with the construction of Mälarterrassen in the Slussen area.
Mälarterrassen is a two-building complex that will host six restaurants and cafés with outdoor seating, and will become a central meeting place in the Slussen area. Between the two buildings, which consist of three floors with large glass sections, lies Mälartrappan, which will naturally connect Södermalm with the Old Town. The entire Mälarterrassen, which is terraced between Södermalstorg and Söder Mälarstrand, will have a direct view of and contact with the water towards the Old Town.
“We are proud to be a part of the Slussen development project and creating this new vibrant hub in Stockholm. We have previously collaborated with Tenet and Atrium Ljungberg, and projects of this kind are an excellent match for the services and expertise we provide,” says Klas Svensson, CEO at Rörgruppen AB.
Specific challenges in this project include the timing of installations and the unique, terraced waterfront restaurant building, which must be carefully adapted to its surroundings. Logistics present another challenge, given the high volume of traffic at Slussen and the need to carefully schedule deliveries with this in mind.
The project for Rörgruppen is now halfway done and is scheduled for completion in 2026. Restaurants will gradually move into the new premises.
The ambition is for the project to be certified as a Sustainable Instalco project. The assignment is being carried out on behalf of the client Tenet and the end customer Atrium Ljungberg. The City of Stockholm is behind the construction of the entire Slussen project, which is the largest redevelopment and renovation of the area in 80 years.
