Instalco partners with Skanska and Castellum on office construction project

Instalco subsidiaries, Bi-Vent and Sprinklerbolaget Syd have been contracted by Skanska and Castellum for installation of the complete ventilation and sprinkler systems for E.ON’s new Nordic head office in Malmö.

The order value for the assignment is estimated at approximately SEK 83 million.

The new office building, 36,000 sq. m. will be situated in the new city district, Nyhamnen, directly connected to the Malmö Central Station railway station. It will be eight stories high and a striking new addition to the city’s architectural landscape. The roof level will be fitted with outdoor workspaces, an outdoor gym, restaurant, garden and photovoltaic systems.

“We were selected early for drawing up a tender for Skanska and detailing the prerequisites for creating a tight group with extensive experience from prior collaborations. This also enabled us to quickly get going with the project planning work. For Bi-Vent, this is our largest ventilation project to date,” says Tomas Engström, CEO of Bi-Vent.

The ventilation solution is a VAV (Variable Air Volume) system, which allows variable airflow, but control can also be manual. It offers significant energy savings while maintaining an optimal indoor climate and comfort.

“This is a large, important assignment for us and Instalco’s long-term collaboration with Skanska was the key to our becoming involved in this prestigious project. This type of collaboration provides us with many opportunities for, at an early stage, suggesting and implementing cost-effective, sustainable solutions at the new office complex,” says Thomas Hyllén Olsson, CEO at Sprinklerbolaget Syd.

The new office building will obtain BREEAM environmental certification at the highest level. It will also meet the benchmarks of WELL Building Standard, which aims to enhance workers’ health and quality of life. E.ON’s new head office will serve as an ambassador for sustainable solutions offering maximum energy efficiency, optimal indoor climate and smart solutions for control, cooling, heating and warm water.

“We are very happy to have Bi-Vent and Sprinklerbolaget as part of the team. Both companies have the expertise, motivation and capacity for taking on a large, complex project like this, with a collaborative approach. It provides us with an excellent foundation for the E.ON project,” says Behar Abdulah, Project Manager at Skanska Sverige AB.

Plans are for construction to get underway during the second quarter of 2020 and the building is expected to be completed and ready for moving in during the first quarter of 2023.
