Instalco establishes itself in marine electronics

Instalco has established itself in the area of marine and ship electronics via the acquisition of the Norwegian company, IMES AS. The company is domiciled in Tromsö, with focus on service and installations for the marine sector and fishing industry.

IMES has around 30 employees and annual sales of approximately NOK 50 million. It is specialised in installation and service of electrical and technical equipment on ships and boats. It also works with the fishing industry. The company serves clients in both Norway and internationally.

“The acquisition of IMES establishes us in a very interesting area in the marine sector and fishing industry, which is attractive in Norway. We also see opportunities for synergies and collaboration between IMES and JB Elektro, which is another Instalco subsidiary situated in Tromsö,” says Roger Aksnes, Business Area Manager for Instalco Norway.

IMES was founded in 1981 and it is currently the market leader in Tromsö for electrical installations, automation and electronics for the marine sector. It offers both contract work and service, with the ability of taking in ships at its own port facility.

“Joining Instalco offers us the holistic context we need and want for developing the business. We will benefit from Instalco’s expertise and the opportunities for synergies. Likewise, we contribute with our specialist expertise on the marine side,” says Frank Wilhelmsen, CEO at IMES AS.

Instalco will acquire 100 percent of the shares in IMES AS as of 15 November 2022.
